Who knows? We may have a best-selling author among us!! Our own Frank Stiles, after toiling quietly for several years, has just published a true crime mystery about our own hometown which documents murders conducted in the 1980s right in our own backyards---literally.

In July, the LCPO was thrilled to welcome unique and very impressive visitors to our office! Seven recent graduates of the University of Szeged, Hungary were in Toledo as the culmination of their four-year relationship with our own University of Toledo College of Law.

Claudia Ford transferring from Juvenile to Criminal

Assistant Prosecutor Claudia Ford recently “jumped ship” from the Juvenile Division to the Adult Criminal Division, but there are smiles all around. What a woman of energy, perseverance and courage she is! After many years of working in the DYS (State of Ohio Department of Youth Services) correctional facility supervising parole officers, this Social Work graduate embarked on a ten year career as a paralegal with the firm of Nathan and Roberts.

Prosecutor Julia Bates Tapped for Commencement Address

Prosecutor Julia R. Bates was beaming with pride as she addressed the 2007 graduating class of Concordia University last month. Concordia University is a private liberal arts university located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The school is affiliated with the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and is a college of the Concordia University system.

Honoring Victim Advocates

On Wednesday April 25, 2007 Advocates for Victims and Justice, Inc., with co-sponsor UAW Region 2-B, honored two of Toledo’s most compassionate victim advocates; former Lucas County Prosecutor Anthony G. Pizza, and Joan Coleman , former Executive Director of the Toledo/Lucas County Victim-Witness Assistance Program.
