| Celebrating Geographic Information Systems Day with Auditor Anita Lopez are students from a third grade class at Ottawa River Elementary.
|
Outreach activities encompass broad interactions with the general public as well as specific groups around Lucas County. Auditor’s office departments and employees also reach out to students and underserved groups, to help them learn more about the Auditor’s office and how our programs affect their lives every day. Examples include a presentation about GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and a pizza party for a third grade class at Ottawa River Elementary and scheduled in-home visits for seniors and the disabled during the homestead filing season. Examples of other outreach activities include:
-
Provide the public with one-on-one, personal assistance, on and off-site.
- Exhibiting at conferences, fairs, and community events throughout Lucas County.
- Partnering with the Toledo Lucas County Main Library in sponsoring AREIS (Auditor’s Real Estate Information System) training workshops for various entities, i.e. government agencies, community development organizations, real estate organizations, and the general public.
- Sponsoring Introduction to GIS (Geographic Information Systems) class sessions for students.
- Sponsoring annual Geographic Information System Day Events.
- Providing worksite tours.
- Presenting and speaking at public events and for specific groups.
- Collaborate with other agencies and organizations on events and programs to continually improve the public service arm of the Auditor’s office.
